An Indian newspaper reports that this scooter (a Bajaj?) was rear-ended by a truck, killing the passenger on the scooter. We individually can't do much to make truck drivers more careful, but we can make ourselves better and more effective riders.

The owner of this Website has e-mailed the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, hoping to assure that the voices of mature scooterists are being heard during the development of the MSF's safety programs.

Based on their past stellar performance, we can be nearly certain that the MSF's programs will become the de-facto standard for the various state's licensing and safety programs.

As of January 7, 2005 here's what the MSF tells us - - - - - - - -

ScooterSchool 1 is complete except for the printing of the booklet used for students. It's called "You and Your Scooter Riding Tips." It should be finished within the next four weeks.

We have a few sites around the country that helped us during field testing, and these sites are able to conduct ScooterSchool 1 without the formal booklet (we'll mail the booklet to participants once it's completed).

We are now beginning to offer ScooterSchool Updates to RiderCoaches who wish to be certified as RiderCoaches. Information about this is on our RETSORG website in the form of Frequently Asked Questions.

Ray Ochs, MSF

You may want to e-mail Mr. Ochs to thank the MSF for working on this and to suggest any safety issues that you feel should be covered.
