Front Basket

You have probably noticed the three pretty chrome "acorn" nuts on the front of your Aero. They cap three studs welded to the frame, and while helping to secure the front fairing, they also will hold a front cargo carrier.

The few images available of the original carrier show either a nice chrome-plated wire rack, or a folding "book carrier" but Honda [in the U.S.A.] doesn't offer either. Our basket [below] is a metal-mesh bicycle unit.

To support the basket, two lower angle braces were installed.

Lock washers are suggested since the vibration level, when cruising, is high enough to loosen nuts.

These two bottom brackets actually support the basket and its load, they were put on the scooter then bent down, using a large pair of pliers, until they were level with the ground.
This top support is a 1/8 inch thick "mending plate". It was first bent to about the right angle using a heavy vise and a 5 pound sledge hammer. Then the basket was put in place temporarily and the support marked, then cut off.

A copper tubing clamp folded over so that its mounting holes line up holds the basket's "handle." Your specific basket design will dictate how you arrange this bracket. Note that it is not supporting much weight, it just keeps the basket stable and prevents vibration.

The completed installation. Total cost including the basket purchased from the bicycle department at a "Target" store, is less than $20.

A large paper clamp, that can be made out on the top edge of the basket, is used to retain lightweight things such as envelopes going to the post office, and to hold the handles of plastic grocery bags to keep them from blowing in the wind at speed.
